“The road to get here was not straight forward, it was a worldwide and self discovery Journey”
Marie Gaboriau
It all began in the French Alps
I discovered Ortho-Bionomy® and massage while I was studying languages in Grenoble in the French Alps. Thanks to these fantastic therapies I got rid of a persistent neck pain. I was so amazed with the results they had on my body that I decided to stop University and dove straight into the learning of massage and Ortho-Bionomy®.
In 2008, after a very short massage course I started working as a relaxation massage therapist in the small ski resort of Samoëns (where I grew up). I was mainly giving post ski massages, and this sparked my interest for understanding more of the human body in movement.
A year later I moved to Australia, completed a Diploma in Remedial Massage and continued to train in Ortho-Bionomy®. I settled in Australia for over 15 years and run successful clinics in Melbourne and Newcastle.
Training massage therapists in the four corners of Australia.
Being in the top 10% of students in my massage studies, I was invited to train for Evolve College (formerly the Australian College of Massage). I became a massage trainer in 2010 and for over 7 years, from Perth to Brisbane, I took hundreds of students through their Diploma of Remedial massage.
From massage to yoga teacher training
“Marie’s passion for anatomy is obvious and contagious!”
Students always enjoyed my enthusiasm and fun yet informative way to pass on knowledge.
From massage training my work slowly evolved in teaching anatomy for yoga teacher training program instead. I love teaching people how we can use movement to heal and reduce pain.
The birth of the pelvic floor workshop
After being pregnant with my first daughter (and becoming a yoga teacher that same year!) I became passionate about the pelvic floor. This part of us that is often forgotten in anatomy books and in everyday discussion.
There is a real need to inform women (and men) about how our pelvic floor functions and what we can do if it doesn’t. In 2018, I created a pelvic floor workshop, teaching hundreds of women how they can look after themselves ‘down there’. This workshop is now online.
Online Ortho-Bionomy® sessions? How is this possible?!
Some good things came out of the covid lockdown!
One day in 2021 one of my clients had a cold and couldn’t come to see me. However, she was desperate to get better and really wanted an Ortho-Bionomy® session. In my training, I learned to practice distant healing but I never had the opportunity to use it. This was a perfect opportunity!
We started the session with my client feeling aches and pain everywhere and a sore throat. When we finished the session, she reported feeling much better and her cold didn’t last for very long.
I was finally convinced that it worked! This was the start of a great journey.
Around the world we go
After 15 years in Australia, 2 daughters and many more diplomas in my pocket (meditation teacher certification, more Ortho-Bionomy® and Yoga training…) my family and I decided to embark on a big world discovering journey. First stop was the French Alps, then we travel through Spain and Portugal looking for waves and we are now settled in the Southwest of France in the seaside village of Capbreton pondering where is our next destination… maybe French Polynesia…
Work on the road
While traveling I get to discover fantastic places to work from. Sometimes I find great clinics to work from, sometimes I practice in nature. One thing for sure is I’m always so inspired by the places I visit. It adds another depth to the session, a sense of curiosity, a feeling of new beginnings… As I explore the world and change my perspectives my work adapts and the results for people are usually more and more profound.
Today I am available in Capbreton for in person sessions and online for distant treatments.
Tomorrow… who knows where I will be in the world, but online sessions will always be available!
